Biography
Dr. Kristin Klucevsek has been with Duquesne University as a Teaching Associate Professor of Scientific Writing in our English & Theater Arts department since 2013. Holding a B.S. in Biology from the University of Maine and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Klucevsek's research interests include ways to improve student citations and source use, the use of digital technology in writing or teaching, and peer review. Her teaching interests include scientific literacy, science communication, general biology, genetics, molecular biology, research ethics and communication, online & hybrid learning, and methods of engaging students through active learning.
What she loves most about teaching our students is when she can help them examine and write effectively about a topic that will become part of their future research or career. Being able to support them on their journey to refine their passions motivates Dr. Klucevsek in her work.
Among other publications and awards, Dr. Klucevsek was the recipient of the McAnulty College Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching and the President's Award in Teaching in 2018. She is also a Faculty Schoalr with the Grefenstette Center for Ethics in Science, Technology, and Law.

ENGL 302W Scientific Writing
Faculty Advisor to the student-run scientific journal The D.U.Quark. The mission of The D.U.Quark is to provide authentic opportunities for students of any major to explore science and health communication. While many students perform undergraduate research, not all students have the opportunity to publish. The journal fills this gap and more.
