Biography

Leanne Belasco, MS, MT-BC is a board-certified music therapist and adjunct professor at Duquesne University. Leanne earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from Duquesne University in 2006 and her Master of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Severe to Profound Disabilities from Johns Hopkins University in 2010. She is the Director of Music Therapy at Levine Music, a community music institution based in Washington, DC that serves students of all ages and abilities in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Leanne worked to establish the program in 2011 and has overseen its growth and development to expand the reach and impact of music therapy services to individuals with a wide range of diagnoses and needs throughout the DC metro area. She has worked extensively with children and adults with intellectual, cognitive, and/or developmental disabilities in clinical, community, and public education settings, as well as older adults with neurologic diagnoses such as Parkinson's disease, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia.
