Biography
Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Mrs. Rethage attended Duquesne University from 2001 to 2005, majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Psychology. She returned to Duquesne's School of Nursing Accelerated 2nd Degree program, graduating at the top of her class in 2007. As a member of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, Epsilon Iota chapter, at Duquesne University, Leigh Anne fell into a long line of cardiac-related nursing roles. She first served as night shift charge nurse at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital on a cardiac progressive care unit and completed her time on the floor at UPMC Passavant's progressive care unit in 2012. Mrs. Rethage became enriched in the world of FDA clinical trials and nuclear cardiology/imaging in her role with UPMC's Heart and Vascular Institute as a clinical research coordinator until 2014. Prior to her role at Duquesne, Mrs. Rethage developed a cardiac education program for non-medical staff at Pittsburgh's own ZOLL Medical Corporation, a durable medical equipment company providing the wearable cardiac defibrillator LifeVest. In this role, she gained excellence in ICD-10 and CPT coding as well as drafting appeal letters to overturn negative reimbursement decisions.
Mrs. Rethage currently serves as the Clinical Coordinator for Online Programs at the School of Nursing.
