Biography
Professor Yochum is a 1974 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and a 1977 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, joining the bar that year. He joined the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University's faculty in the fall of 1983, teaching his last class in 2018.
His emphasis, since the mid-nineties, has been in professional responsibility generally and, particularly in ethical issues specially presented by practice in bankruptcy and taxation. He has offered over three hundred continuing education seminars to national and regional gatherings in more than half the states, D.C. and Canada. He has spoken for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, the Internal Revenue Service, the Commercial Law League of America and numerous state or federal district bar annual meetings.
He began the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University's own continuing legal education program as primarily a service for underserved alumni. Upon his retirement, he received the acknowledgment of his service to the bar from the Allegheny County Bar Association, Section on Bankruptcy and from the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University alumni for his service to the school.
Professor Yochum has been active in amateur theater since 1980, performing at theaters across the region. He is a member of the Duquesne University's Red Masquers through his participation while on the faculty and continues as a supporter of the on-campus Genesius Theater. He resides in Mt. Lebanon with his wife, Kathleen.
