Biography

McKenzie Trader is a two-time (almost three-time) graduate of Duquesne University School of Nursing and currently serves as the Academic Support Coach for the School of Nursing. A proud Duquesne alumna, she is passionate about giving back to the institution that shaped her nursing and educational journey.

McKenzie’s clinical background includes experience in medical-surgical nursing and ambulatory care, where she developed strong clinical judgment skills and a passion for nursing education. After establishing a solid clinical foundation, she began working as a clinical instructor at multiple universities while completing her MSN in Nursing Education. Through the mentorship of faculty at Duquesne, she transitioned into an adjunct role under the Director of Academic Support and NCLEX-RN Success, Sr. Mary Meyers.

After success in her adjunct role, the opportunity arose for McKenzie to transition into a full-time faculty position. Her expanded role allows her to further develop structured programming, increase student access to individualized support, and strengthen academic success outcomes across the School of Nursing. She works closely with students to strengthen time management, test-taking strategies, and clinical reasoning skills.

In addition to her work in academic support, McKenzie is a current PhD student, a wife to a Duquesne University School of Pharmacy graduate, and a proud mother to two young boys, Silas and Malcolm.
