Biography
As senior advisor to President Ken Gormley for Spiritan mission and campus culture,
Fogarty provides leadership in enriching Duquesne University’s campus culture and
fostering the promotion and implementation of the Spiritan charism and vision for
education.
A member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit—Duquesne University’s founding order—Fogarty
most recently served in Rome, Italy, as Superior General of the Spiritans, leading
the Congregation globally. His previous roles include Provincial Superior for the
Spiritan United States Province and, at Duquesne, director of the Office of Mission
and Identity, and director of the Center for Spiritan Studies.
In addition, Fogarty was a Spiritan missionary in Ghana, Africa, and was Assistant
Provincial for the Congregation in his native Ireland.
Fogarty earned a B.Sc. in Physics from University College Dublin in 1976 and an S.T.L.
from Fribourg University, Switzerland, in 1982.
