Biography

Samuel Nemec joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as second oboe in the fall of 2023. Previously, Mr. Nemec held the same position with the Atlanta Symphony for eleven seasons. He has also performed with the National, Cincinnati and Charleston Symphony Orchestras and as guest principal with the Milwaukee Symphony and KBS Symphony of Korea. During the summer he is on the roster for the Grand Teton Music Festival. 

A devoted teacher, Nemec is on the faculty of Duquesne University. He has given classes at the University of Georgia and the North Carolina School of the Arts. Mr. Nemec was born in S. Korea and raised in New Jersey. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with Elaine Douvas, Nathan Hughes and Pedro Diaz. Subsequently, he attended the Curtis Institute of Music as a student of Richard Woodhams.
