Duquesne University President Ken Gormley has reappointed Dr. Fevzi Akinci to a third term as dean of the John G. Rangos Sr School of Health Sciences.
“Dr. Fevzi Akinci’s visionary leadership has elevated the Rangos School of Health Sciences to a sought-after destination for students looking to excel in the health care field,” said Duquesne University President Ken Gormley. “Under his leadership, the school has added exceptional programs regionally, nationally and with unique international experiences. His commitment to excellence has empowered students to become leaders in their fields. I’m thrilled to announce he will continue as dean of health sciences at Duquesne.”

Since becoming dean in 2017, Akinci has overseen the growth of new academic programs
and research activities, while also developing partnerships with health care organizations
at the national and international level. Under his leadership, the school was the
first academic institution in the world to offer an accelerated Biomedical Engineering
and Nursing dual degree to undergraduates. He also established the school’s public
health and health administration programs and expanded international training opportunities
for students. One of the largest health sciences schools in the U.S., Rangos programs
provide a variety of research and experiential activities that prepare students for
successful careers in the health care field.
“I’m deeply honored to continue to serve as dean of the Rangos School,” Akinci said.
“The remarkable achievements of our school are a testament to our world-class faculty,
who prepare students with an excellent education, including rigorous research skills
and comprehensive hands-on training. In turn, we attract the best and brightest students,
who not only excel in their health care professions, but also make significant, positive
contributions to the health and well-being of the populations served regionally, nationally
and globally.”
