More than 97% of Duquesne University nursing graduates have passed the 2023 National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) to become licensed registered nurses. This marks a nearly seven percent increase in the School of Nursing’s overall NCLEX score since 2021.

Offered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, the NCLEX is a national standardized test that measures foundational knowledge and skills that entry-level nurses need for safe nursing practice.

Duquesne’s 97.15% NCLEX score is higher than both Pennsylvania’s 90.70% average and the United States’ 86.73% average scores.

“Our faculty and staff work with our nursing students to become problem-solvers who think deeply and whose skills and capabilities are driven by compassion and empathy,” said Duquesne University Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow. “Our NCLEX score confirms that the horizon-expanding education we provide our nursing graduates ensures that they are prepared and ready to make sound clinical judgments for safe, effective patient care.”
