The Master’s in Nursing Education program at Duquesne University has been ranked No. 1 in the nation in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs rankings.
In addition, the School of Nursing ranked No. 37 overall for its online Master’s in Nursing programs, with its specialized programs earning exceptional recognition, including:
- No. 7 for the Master’s in Nursing Administration
- No. 8 for the Master’s in Family Nurse Practitioner
- No. 11 for the Master’s in Nursing for Veterans.
These rankings highlight Duquesne’s commitment to excellence and innovation in nursing education across a wide range of specialties.
“Our No. 1 ranking is a testament to the dedication of our faculty to prepare nurses for roles as nurse educators during a critical shortage of nursing faculty,” said Duquesne Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow. “At Duquesne, we ensure our students are prepared for advanced roles and practice, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue bigger goals in their careers. It brings us great joy to see their hard work recognized on a national level, knowing they are making a profound impact in nursing education and beyond.”
According to U.S. News, the 2025 Best Online Programs rankings assessed approximately 1,780 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at regionally accredited institutions, ranking more than 1,600 of them. Additional online programs from Duquesne University that have earned national recognition from this ranking are:
- No. 68 for Bachelor’s in Business
- No. 97 for Master’s in Education
- No. 123 for Bachelor’s Programs.

Using metrics specific to online learning, U.S. News evaluated schools based on a variety of facts, such as student engagement, faculty credentials and services and technologies.
