Join the Conversation Between Faith and Culture
In our Department of Theology, the conversation between faith and culture becomes intellectually alive as students and teachers engage scripture, tradition, experience, and contemporary thought in search of understanding.
Students from various faith backgrounds and from many parts of the world come to Duquesne University to study theology. The Department of Theology is made up of about 10 full-time faculty members dedicated to examining religion across a wide range of traditions while utilizing diverse methodological practices, including theological, social scientific, historical, and literary. Considering the impact of religious assertions and institutions on our cultural and political landscapes, global affairs, and individual development, the study of theology is of particular practical importance.
Duquesne University’s Department of Theology reflects the Spiritan, Catholic identity of Duquesne University and its mission to encourage students to come to understand themselves as world citizens who are intimately linked to, and therefore called to work for, a peaceful and just world
