BSN Admissions Criteria
In addition to the School of Nursing admissions requirements, you must meet all international admissions requirements as determined by International Admissions.
Duquesne University School of Nursing requires submission of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Duolingo Test scores for all non-native English-speaking applicants.
Students who submit official TOEFL scores of 90 iBT or higher, IELTS scores of 7 or higher, Duolingo scores of 120 or higher, current to within one year, are excused from English Language Placement Tests except for the written and spoken English tests. Applicants must also meet the following minimum sub scores in speaking and writing:

Admission Requirements
- Complete the online Duquesne University Undergraduate Application.
- Transcripts
- Original or attested copies of official academic records from the last four years of your education.
- Credentials should be submitted in the native language with certified English translations and sent directly from the school and/or university you attended. Photocopies are not considered official.
- Scanned copies are accepted for evaluation of your application, but originals must be received before you begin classes at Duquesne.
- If you have enrolled in an ESL program in the United States, you also must submit the ESL transcripts.
- English Language Scores
- Graduated from an institution of higher learning recognized as an acceptable equivalent to a U.S. high school.
- Applicants (and students) must meet the Technical Standards for Admission and the health requirements found in the BSN Handbook.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all required documents are submitted. No final decision can be made on any application until all required documentation is on file.

Deadlines
Early Action: November 15
Regular Decision: January 15
Deadline to Deposit
May 1 to secure your spot in the School of Nursing. Once accepted, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to become a student.
Eligibility for Licensure
Individuals planning to practice in Pennsylvania who have been convicted of any crime (felony or misdemeanor) in any court or who have any criminal charges pending/unresolved may be prohibited from licensure or re-licensure as a registered nurse or may be mandated to complete additional requirements in order to be eligible for licensure, as determined by the PA State Board of Nursing. Any student with such a history must contact the PA State Board of Nursing Bureau of Health Professionals Monitoring (717) 783-4857 for guidance prior to enrollment.
Students who plan on applying for licensure outside of the state of Pennsylvania should contact the State Board of Nursing in their respective state.
