Discover Business – Undecided

Are you still deciding on a major? That’s okay! Many students begin college before they decide on a major while others may change their major during their academic journey.

First Semester Experiences

During your first semester, you will take the First-Year Innovation Course and work in teams to solve a business challenge for a real company. This experience will give you the opportunity to see how all majors collaborate in a corporate setting. You will also have a professional team mentor who will be a valuable resource for major and career advice. Teams have the opportunity to present their solutions to the organization’s executives and compete for cash prizes.

First Steps

  • Meet with your dedicated Student Success Coach
  • Attend Beard Center for Student Success events
  • Join student organizations
  • Connect with the Center for Career Development:
    • Job shadowing
    • Internships
    • Coffee meet-ups
    • Career Fairs
    • Resume and cover letter development

As a Business student, courses can double and even triple count towards degree requirements, which means you have more opportunity to double major or pick up multiple minors! No need to commit to just one passion.

The first four semesters of a business student’s journey are dedicated to building foundational knowledge, exploring areas of study, and meeting BRIDGES requirements.

When you apply, select the “Discover” option as an area of interest overall or as a major option within business. Learn more about the Discover program at Duquesne.
