Step 1: Submit Your Application
(New application opens July 1 each year)
To apply, simply create a user profile and submit an application. There is a $38 graduate application fee. Upon submission, your applicant portal is created and populated with required checklist items including a prompt to schedule an audition and submit your audition portfolio. In addition to official transcripts, graduate applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation, and a C.V. or resume.
*International Applicants: All application materials and official documentation (transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal essay) must be provided in English. Non-native English speakers must provide TOEFL, IELTS, or DuoLingo scores. Learn more about international admission procedures.
Step 2: Complete Your Audition
(December 1 - March 1)
For applicants to the Artist Diploma (AD) and Master of Music (MM) in Performance, submit your audition portfolio and register for an audition date using your applicant portal. Portfolios are submitted at least 1 week in advance of the scheduled audition. Auditions are coordinated and conducted by the school of music and can be completed in person or online. Once you register for a music audition, you will receive detailed communications to help you prepare and stay on track. The week prior to your scheduled audition, you'll receive a personalized audition day schedule that will contain the exact times and locations of your audition components. Learn more about the Audition Process and Guidelines
Applicants to the AD and MM receive official notification of audition results from the Mary Pappert School of Music typically within 7-10 days of the music audition. If you pass, you'll receive an official letter of acceptance that includes your initial Performance Award.
*We highly recommend completing the performance audition process by March 1 for priority
award consideration.
Notice: Graduate applicants pursuing the Master of Music Therapy (MMT) or the MMT Equivalency will submit a portfolio, but will not complete a live performance audition. A degree interview will be scheduled and conducted by faculty evaluators. Upon admission, all MMT and MMT Equivalency students are automatically considered for a 25% tuition remission benefit.
Step 3: Secure Your Award Package
(March 1 - April 15)
As an admitted graduate student in either the AD or MM in Performance, you can apply for a Graduate Assistantship to increase the total value of your graduate award package. Assistantship values and assignments are determined by committee.
Notice: Graduate students admitted to the MMT or MMT Equivalency program are not eligible
for Graduate Assistantships at this time.
When you're ready, you can secure your award as well as your place in the incoming
class by completing the Enrollment Response Form on your applicant portal and submitting an enrollment deposit. Enrollment decisions
are due by April 15 for accepted graduates (decision extensions can be granted). Our
advisors will work with you to build your class schedule. Enrolled students will receive
communications over the summer months with details regarding class schedules as well
as move-in and orientation information.
