A Global Community
From Avonworth to Australia, the reach of a Duquesne education will expand your horizons and provide opportunities for you to work alongside your neighbors in research and service projects while living the mission to serve others. From study abroad opportunities to welcoming international students to our campus to local service projects, as a Duquesne Student you will make an impact.
These experiences will resonate throughout your life and your career - helping you become more open to the lives and journeys of others and more determined to create a future everyone can share in.
A Tradition of Service
Serving others was central to our mission in 1878 when the Congregation of the Holy Spirit founded Duquesne to educate immigrant millworkers and their families. And as one of the region's most significant anchor institutions, our commitment to the common good stands equally strong and true today.
Duquesne's students, faculty, staff and partners work to build a better Pittsburgh, a better western Pennsylvania and beyond. In fact, 60 percent of our students are involved in local, national and global community engagement.
Duquesne's Office of Civic Engagement and External Relations is proud to partner with our neighbors to help create a vibrant, productive community that recognizes the value and importance of all individuals—of all backgrounds and occupations—who collectively contribute to the rich tapestry of life.
