When you live on campus at Duquesne, you become part of a community—and you don't have to navigate that community alone.

Resident Assistants, better known as RAs, are student leaders who live alongside residents in Duquesne's residence halls. They help students make connections, navigate challenges, find resources and make their residence hall feel like home.

For many students, an RA becomes one of the first familiar faces they know on campus. They may welcome you when you move in, introduce you to your neighbors, answer a question when you aren't sure where to go, help you work through a roommate concern or simply check in to see how your semester is going.

Your RA is a student, a leader, a resource and a connection to the larger Duquesne community.

What Does a Resident Assistant Do?

Resident Assistants (RAs) are student leaders who live within Duquesne’s residential communities and help create a welcoming, connected and supportive place to call home. They get to know their residents, serve as a resource and help students make the most of their Duquesne experience.

RAs work closely with their Resident Director (RD), a professional staff member who oversees the residence hall and supports the RA team. Together, they respond to community needs, connect students with University resources and address concerns within the residence halls.

RAs also build community through programs, individual check-ins and opportunities that help residents connect, get involved and learn outside the classroom. They support roommate conversations, communicate community expectations, participate in an on-call rotation and help students navigate challenges.

At its heart, the RA role is about relationships, leadership and belonging—being a familiar face, a trusted peer and a connection to the larger Duquesne community.
