Documenting Rigor in Teaching

According to the new Faculty Handbook, "evidence of courses taught at a rigorous and challenging level" is an indicator of professional accomplishment in teaching. But what exactly is rigor in relation to teaching? How can you assess that your courses are rigorous? This workshop will introduce participants to a multidimensional model of rigor to bring clarity to this amorphous concept. Participants will leave the workshop with a framework for articulating academic rigor that is applicable across course levels, programs and contexts. Faculty and those conducting peer-evaluations are encouraged to attend.
