Bio

Pablo Echeverri, assistant professor of law, teaches Corporations and Securities Regulation at Duquesne University School of Law. Echeverri's research focuses on how the practice of legal actors influences the development and implementation of legal rules. His work explores this question in the area of securities regulation, adopting a comparative perspective. His current research explores the regulation of unregistered offerings pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act, and the role of industry customs and practices in securities fraud litigation.

Prior to joining Duquesne Law, Echeverri was a fellow at Berkeley Law's Robbins Collection, a research center promoting comparative scholarship in various areas of the law. Echeverri practiced law in the Global Capital Markets Group at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy (now Milbank LLP), in New York City; the Corporate Group at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, in Washington, DC; and the Latin America team at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, in New York City.

Echeverri previously advised a cabinet-level Colombian official involved in negotiations with the U.S. government. He continues to advise Latin American companies on U.S. business matters.

Echeverri obtained his J.D. from Berkeley Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed the International Program, with high honors, at the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (Sciences-Po). In addition to English, he is fluent in Spanish and French, and speaks conversational Italian.

Echeverri is admitted to practice in New York and is an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar.
