Both the School of Science and Engineering and pre-med certificate program are going to provide me with a world-class education. The STEM-based opportunities at Duquesne offer new and exciting challenges that will increase my knowledge of medicine and serve me well when I enter medical school.

There are so many options that I’ve started to learn about that I could see myself doing. I just have to experience it to determine if it’s what I see myself doing for the rest of my life.

Duquesne offers a perfect blend between education, location and opportunities for my career goals. As a Pittsburgh native, I wanted to attend a school close enough to home where I could continue to grow my network, and that was also small enough for me to build relationships with my professors.

Duquesne checked off all the boxes for me. It’s in a big city but with a small campus, so you get to know your professors and classmates. I feel very prepared to enter medical school knowing that I’m part of an educational and social network at Duquesne that will continue to support me throughout my life.

The whole reason I’m at Duquesne is because of the Gussin Spiritan Division. They gave me the opportunity to come here on a full ride. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the Gussins. I’m very thankful for them.

Duquesne had the best of both worlds for me. It was a less expensive and smaller school in a much more diverse and exciting environment in comparison to my other choices.

I chose Duquesne because we’re in an urban area, and I felt like there was a lot of opportunity for me here. Every professor I have is for us and cares about our education. They want to make sure we’re comfortable in class and want to know what they can do to help us.

The Honors Bridges EQ Course 'What Good is Democracy?’ was so interesting because we explored how democracy has evolved over time. Being able to read texts critically and form your own opinions is such an important skill, and I am so lucky to have done this during my first semester at Duquesne.

They [Duquesne faculty] know you as a person so having those relationships is so important. I know it would have been different if I had gone to school somewhere else.

My favorite class at Duquesne so far was the Honors Bridges EQ course ‘Why Do Feelings Matter?’ Dr. St. Hilaire is an excellent professor who structures the class to help students learn to identify what emotions look like in the world and within themselves.
