Continuation Services for Students with ADHD

Duquesne University Health Services (DUHS) offers continuation services for students who have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD). These services include psychopharmacology, which involves medication management. A team of medical professionals, including clinical pharmacists and counselors, provides this care. If you’re a student with ADHD, you’ll need to submit the necessary documentation to Health Services before scheduling your first appointment. Duquesne University Health Services (DUHS) is pleased to provide psychopharmacology continuation services for enrolled students previously diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders. This service is provided by a multidisciplinary medical team including clinical pharmacist and counselors under direction of the health services primary care physician and in accordance with policies and procedures governing controlled substance prescriptions for ADHD. Please review the following requirements regarding student patient participation and forward all required documentation to Health Services prior to scheduling your first appointment.

DUHS cannot store any ADHD medication on site.

Working with a registered dietitian is the best way to get personal advice about food and eating choices. Appointment reasons vary from healthier eating habits, weight loss or gain, chronic diseases, food allergy or sensitivities, athletic performance, diet specific help such as vegetarian or vegan, and overall basic nutrition education.

Duquesne University Health Services offers allergy injection therapy managed and provided by Allergy Nurse Specialist, Xenia Duris, RN, BSN under the direction of the Health Services primary physician and in accordance with policies and procedures governing allergy injections.

Students must schedule an initial appointment with the allergy nurse prior to starting services in the Health Center.

Students must also provide serum and completed documentation from the prescribing allergist, which will be stored under locked refrigeration in Health Services.

Please review all requirements in the Allergy Injection Patient Packet regarding patient and physician information for all immunization orders.

Allergy Injection Patient Packet

For students that are prescribed pharmacologic treatments that require regular administration and monitoring, Health Services will need the following:

  • All current documentation from the outside provider’s order which must include:  the name of the medication; dosage; route, and frequency in which it is to be given; and documentation of the last injection administered is required
  • Medication is to be provided by the student
  • Health Services DOES NOT provide storage for medications provided by the student

Bloodwork order from outside medical providers (processed through Quest Diagnostics* reference laboratory.
