Programs & Events
Please Note: Due to the COVID-19 situation, some of our programs may not occur as originally scheduled or may occur in a hybrid or virtual format.
The Office of Commuter Affairs sponsors events and programs throughout the year. All commuter students are encouraged to attend as many programs as their schedule will allow. If you have suggestions on how to improve a program or would like to see a new program, don't hesitate to let our staff know.
Here are some of the programs that are sponsored by Commuter Affairs:
- Commuter Pre-Orientation
- PB&J Wednesdays
- School Lunches
- Thanksgiving & Easter Potluck Dinners
- Meet Program
- South Side Neighborhood Social
Commuter Pre-Orientation introduces new freshmen and commuter students to their Commuter Assistant (CA), the Office of Commuter Affairs staff and other new commuter students. The day consists of CA meetings, a tour of campus, fun team building activities and our annual "Commuter Olympics" event. Both lunch and dinner are complimentary and provided by the Office of Commuter Affairs.
Commuter Pre-Orientation is held the Monday before the University's orientation program begins. All new commuter students are strongly encouraged to attend this popular event. If you plan on attending, please RSVP by the Friday before by either calling 412.396.6660 or e-mailing email@example.com. We hope to see you there.
Every Wednesday at noon, a different school or department on campus comes to the Commuter Center lobby and makes complimentary peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for commuter students. This is a great way for students to meet faculty and staff from all across campus and interact with them outside of a formal setting. PB&J Wednesdays are popular among faculty, staff and students. The line starts forming early, so mark this on your calendar!
