Duquesne University Hosting 30th Annual Spring Clean-Up This Weekend
Hundreds of Duquesne students, faculty and staff will head out to the greater Hill District and South Side neighborhoods this weekend to make a cleaner and greener difference as part of the University's 30th Annual Spring Clean-Up.
A traditional experience for members of the University community dating back to 1988, Spring Clean-Up has drawn thousands of participants in this large-scale event sponsored by Duquesne's Spiritan Campus Ministry.
"Spring Clean-Up has always served as a great opportunity for the entire Duquesne community to work together with our neighbors in the South Side, Uptown and Hill District communities," said Campus Minister Kate Lecci. "Our 30-year history with this event demonstrates our commitment to these communities, and provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to be a good neighbor.
"Each year, Spring Clean-Up helps to raise environmental awareness and strengthens the relationship between members of the Duquesne community and their neighbors. Volunteers get an opportunity to learn more about their local community as well as a chance to make a difference.
Participants will meet at 9 a.m. this Saturday, April 14, on Mellon Hall patio to register and eat breakfast. Teams will depart at 9:30 a.m. and stay at their work sites until approximately noon.
Following the clean-up, volunteers will be treated to free lunch and live music. Taste of the Neighborhood will provide lunch for participants on the South Side and Z-Best Barbeque will feed those working in the Hill District.
