For 85 years, compassion has played a critical role in our mission and nursing curriculum. We offer academic programs that transcend traditional boundaries, positioning us as a leader in interdisciplinary and interprofessional programs. Duquesne nurses are successful, innovative leaders who bring excellence in care, research and ethics to an ever-changing profession.
The Duquesne University campus is located in Pittsburgh, PA - one of America's most livable cities. Pittsburgh is also home to some of the top hospitals in the region and country, making it an advantageous place for nursing students to gain clinical experience.
State-of-the-Art Learning, State-of-the-Heart Caring
Our top-ranked programs combine rigorous academic work with hands-on training and a strong emphasis on ethical values. Our faculty are leading the charge for social justice and equity in health care, and our students take the skills they're learning into underserved communities to provide care and other resources.
A Holistic Approach
As one of 17 nursing schools in the United States endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC), we put holistic care at the center of our curriculum. Holistic nursing encompasses the integration of self-care, including the use of integrative therapies and the understanding of the interconnectedness of the self and nature, with medical expertise.
Holistic nursing is a type of nursing practice in which the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of a patient are considered throughout their treatment. This practice embodies Duquesne's values with an emphasis on culture, ethics and spirituality. We aspire to reinforce holistic ideals within health care settings and the classroom in order to prepare nurses to provide culturally, medically and ethically competent care.
