Services That Fit Your Needs
We offer a variety of services to support students and the overall campus community.
Our Mission
"Working within the Division of Student Life, under the umbrella of the Center for Student Wellbeing, Counseling Services promotes an understanding of health and wellbeing that is holistic in nature: mind, body, and spirit, with each student being an intersection of these overlapping aspects of human becoming. We believe that Duquesne University’s mission extends beyond educating students to fostering the development of character, resilience, and ethical responsibility. By promoting psychological growth amid the complexities and uncertainties of modern life, we empower students to respond thoughtfully and meaningfully to the challenges of the 21st century and to flourish as compassionate, purpose-driven individuals in an ever-changing world. Counseling Services seeks to assist in the formation of individuated students who are connected to self, others, community, and the sacred."
— Dr. Ian Edwards, AVP Student Wellbeing, Director of Counseling Services
Prevention Through Promotion
At Duquesne, we have developed what we believe is an effective model in preventing suicide on campus by promoting a culture of wellbeing. This type of culture not only is highly effective in preventing suicide, but it also increases retention and career readiness. Through initiatives such as our Wellbeing Coalition, Mental Health First Aid Training for faculty and staff, education through our outreaches and workshops, the annual Week of Wellbeing, and our annual Out of the Darkness Walk co-hosted by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention—Duquesne University is committed to fostering a campus culture highlighting the importance of mental health and wellbeing.

Meditation Studio
Freedom and space to practice one's religion or non-religious meditations is a top priority here at Duquesne. That's why the Meditation Studio was founded—to exist as a interfaith meditative space and silent prayer room. This space is open to students from any religious tradition, or no religious tradition, to engage in their meditative and contemplative practices.

Therapy offices with a personal, down-to-earth feel
Our counseling offices create a comfortable, welcoming environment for students to engage in individual therapy. These spaces value privacy, while adding a personal touch to make students feel connected and at-ease.
