Emerging Women’s Leadership Conference to be Held at Duquesne University
Women in business who are interested in further developing their leadership skills will be at the center of an upcoming conference presented through the Duquesne University Palumbo-Donahue School of Business Executive Education offerings.
The Emerging Women's Leadership Conference will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 28, in the Brittany Conference Room of Des Places Hall on campus.
Virginia Berger, founder and principal of Partners for Performance, and Linda Coleman, assistant professor of communication at Slippery Rock University, will serve as instructors for the conference. David Milbourne, vice president of talent management at Alcoa, will give the conference's keynote address.
"The goal is to help women who want to keep growing and advancing in their companies, and we want to support that drive," said Erinn Ummer, program manager for executive education in the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.
Some of the topics addressed during the conference include influencing across the organization; leading in a multigenerational environment; and leading through change.
Conference participants are asked to complete a DiSC assessment to be used for a self-assessment during the first day of the event. After the self-assessment, participants will engage in networking, defining a personal brand, and cultivating influence and leadership. They will also work in small groups to prepare a 10-minute presentation, which they will present on day three.
Past participants at the Emerging Women's Leadership Conference have represented organizations such as the Bayer Corporation, EQT, GlaxoSmithKline and Kennametal, among others.
