Required Documents

1. Completed Application

2. High School Transcript

  • Original or attested copies of official academic records of high school, including your diploma.

3. University Transcripts

  • Original or attested copies of official academic records from any university, diploma, or training program.
  • Credentials should be submitted in the native language with certified English translations and sent directly from the school and/or university you attended. Photocopies are not considered official.
  • Scanned copies are accepted for evaluation of your application, but originals must be received before you begin classes at Duquesne.
  • If you have enrolled in an ESL program in the United States, you also must submit the ESL transcripts.
  • Course descriptions of university classes for which you would like to receive transfer credit should be submitted. These are not necessary for admission but are required to grant you credit. Only classes with the equivalent of a 'C' or better will transfer. If you cannot provide course descriptions, you may not be eligible for credit transfer. You can receive an admissions decision without the course descriptions, but we cannot guarantee that you will receive transfer credit for all your courses. You can transfer up to a maximum of 60 credits (approximately two years of study).

4. Official Foreign Credential Evaluation

  • If you have completed more than two semesters of education prior to coming to Duquesne University, you are required to submit an Official Foreign Credential Evaluation along with any original documents from their institutions. You may use the following services to request official foreign credential evaluations: World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
  • NOTE: It is not necessary to request an Official Foreign Credential Evaluation if you plan to transfer from an institution with which we have an existing partnership. See our list of partner institutions for more information.

4. Letter of Recommendation

  • At least one (1) letter of recommendation from someone who can attest to both your academic and personal strengths

5. Essay

  • Submit a personal statement of at least 300 words which answers the following questions and includes examples of research, shadowing or volunteering experiences:
    • What is unique about you?
    • Why have you chosen this major?
    • How will Duquesne help you to achieve your academic, personal, and professional goals?

6. English Language Scores

  • International transfer students can apply in one of two ways:
  • Submit a TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson Test of English, or Duolingo English Test
  • Test upon arrival to campus

7. Admissions Transfer Form

  • To be completed by the Office of the Dean of Students at each college or university in which you were enrolled.

Eligibility

To be considered for admission you must have graduated from a secondary school recognized as an acceptable equivalent to a U.S. high school and you must demonstrate a record of acceptable academic success in your university transcript.

University Transfer GPA Requirements:
  • 3.0 for Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Speech Language Pathology, Forensics, Pharmacy and Education
  • 2.75 for Health Sciences, Athletic Training and Occupational Therapy
  • 2.5 for all other majors

The Center for Global Engagement takes into the account the educational system and grading system particular to your country; therefore, you are evaluated against students from the same country.

Immigration Documents

  • Immigration documents are not required for admission, but many students prefer to send them with their application to expedite the process.
  • If you are accepted to Duquesne, you will need to provide financial verification documents. International students currently in the United States should work with their current International Student Advisor to coordinate the transfer of their SEVIS record after they receive notification of acceptance to Duquesne University.
