Biography
Dr. John McCarthy earned his doctoral degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City (USA) and has been teaching since 1995.
From 2009 to 2015, Dr. McCarthy participated in the International Academic Fellowship Program in the Higher Education Support Program of the Open Society Institute. In this role, he worked with both Tbilisi State University in the Republic of Georgia and Yerevan State University in Armenia.
In addition, he has offered professional presentations in Turkey, Lebanon, Singapore, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, China, Kuwait, Hong Kong, England, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Taiwan.
Dr. McCarthy has 30 journal publications and over 60 professional presentations across 14 countries. His professional writings have been featured in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Huffpost.com, The Buffalo News, Cleveland.com, Counseling Today, and The Psychotherapy Networker.
He is the author of two books, The Innovator Next Door and Driving Forward in Reverse, that address creative thinking and problem-solving.
His interests include innovation and creative problem-solving; career issues; international issues in mental health; counseling and wellness; CBT, solution-focused, and strengths-based counseling approaches; and motivational interviewing.
