Congratulations Message to Dukes Football Team from President Ken Gormley
On behalf of the entire Duquesne University community, I extend congratulations to our Dukes football team, who won an incredible victory on Saturday against Central Connecticut State University to capture the NEC championship. This has been a challenging season for our players and coaches, with the loss of their beloved teammate, Marquis Jaylen ("J.B.") Brown. Yet they overcame those challenges through courage and sheer determination to win the conference title. And in a beautiful display of unending friendship, they dedicated this season to J.B., #40, and his family; he was with them in spirit as they captured the conference title in the final seconds of Saturday's game. I'm extremely proud of our players, Coach Jerry Schmitt, and the entire coaching staff. We wish them good luck and Godspeed as they head to Maryland to take on Towson University in the NCAA FCS Playoffs on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Johnny Unitas Stadium. They are true champions!
