1 Students must play in at least two chamber music groups per semester. The first ensemble is typically a like-instrument ensemble from the student's primary instrument area. For example, strings with strings, etc.

2 The second chamber music ensemble should focus on a mixed instrument ensemble. So woodwind students might also register for Chamber Music—Strings if they are playing with string instruments and their coach will be the Chamber Music—Strings instructor. Permission for mixed ensembles should be sought well in advance of the start of the semester and requires the approval of the instructor and program advisor.

3 GMPF 590—Performance Internship is required for international students, but may be used by all students who have internships or perform regularly with local amateur, professional, and semi-professional ensembles. To earn one credit, a student must complete a project.

4 For example, courses in repertoire and literature, pedagogy, directed or independent study, history, theory, small or large ensembles, or other supportive studies that would enhance performance musicianship.
