Mission
The School of Science and Engineering serves students by providing a high-quality education that emphasizes the synergy between teaching and research, and benefits society by advancing scientific knowledge.
History
Established in 1994 through the restructuring of the former College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School underwent a transformation. It involved the division of the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Physics. Over the years, the School has grown to include the Forensic Science and Law Program in 2003 and the Biotechnology program in 2008. The School encompasses notable research centers such as the Center for Environmental Research and Education and the Center for Biotechnology.
In April 2023, the School underwent a significant expansion by introducing engineering programs and acquiring the Math and Computer Science as well as Biomedical Engineering programs. This expansion led to a renaming of the School as the School of Science and Engineering, reflecting its broader range of academic offerings and its commitment to excellence in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
