The Mary Pappert School of Music offers a Minor in Music to any Duquesne student, regardless of major. The program consists of 15 credits, 7 of which are prescribed coursework and the remaining 8 designated for music electives. Program admission requires a demonstration of musical ability through the music audition process. Audition dates and requirements are posted on the Music Admissions webpage.

Private Lessons

Duquesne University students not majoring or minoring in music can take non-credit private music lessons through City Music Center, the community outreach division of the Mary Pappert School of Music. Visit duq.edu/MusicForAdults for more information. Private music lessons for credit are not offered to students not majoring or minoring in a music degree program.

Minor in Music

At Duquesne University, students with previous musical experience are encouraged to consider earning a minor in music. Music minors participate in private lessons on their major instrument and sing or play in a high-quality ensemble. All prospective music minors are required to complete the instrumental/vocal music audition process to gain acceptance to the music minor program. To schedule an audition, please call the Music Admissions office at 412-396-5064.
