2018 Summer Creative Writing Camp for High School Students
June 18-22, 2018 - 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This one-week intensive creative writing camp offers high-school writers the opportunity to hone their understanding of the crafts of fiction and/or poetry. Classes are limited to 12 writers each. Established authors (who are also seasoned teachers) guide the writers through exercises, discussions, and workshops, and provide personal feedback on individual work. At the end of the week, the writers will work together to produce a small journal of the week's work, and participate in a public reading for friends and family.
It's a great opportunity for high school students to:
Focus on poetry or fiction with peers who share a similar love of writing
Work with and get one-on-one feedback from a published writer in their genre
Experience the Duquesne University campus and a college-level workshop
Publish their work in a small journal put together as a showcase of the session's most successful writing
John Fried (Program Director) teaches creative writing at Duquesne University
Karen Dwyer (Instructor) teaches creative writing at Point Park University
Ashley Kunsa (Instructor) teaches creative writing at Rocky Mountain College
Cost (which includes tuition, materials, and lunch):
