2025-2026 Graduate Catalog
The Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering is a 32-credit program offering both
thesis and non-thesis options. All students complete 15 credits of core biomedical
engineering coursework, 9 credits of approved electives, and two 1-credit seminars.
Thesis students take an additional 6 research credits, while non-thesis students complete
6 more credits in electives or research. The thesis track provides an opportunity
for in-depth, original research under the guidance of a faculty advisor, culminating
in a written thesis and oral defense. Students gain valuable experience in scholarly
inquiry, presentation, and engagement with the broader research community. Familiarity
with dissertation procedures and deadlines ensures a smooth and successful completion.
Learning Outcomes
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying
principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning
strategies
